January 31, 2006 ATTENTION: ALL QUICKBUILD KIT PURCHASERS:

The construction manuals, as supplied, are generic in reference to QuickBuild Kits and Standard Kits. There are no specific instructions for the QuickBuild Kits.

All builders should read each chapter thoroughly to familiarize themselves with the steps and processes prior to doing any work on their kits. QuickBuilders should then go through the Wing and Fuselage sections of the manual step by step, inspecting their QB and marking off the steps as having been completed. When a step or process is found not to have been completed, the builder should continue the assembly from that point on. Standard Kit builders will, of course, complete each step themselves.

ATTENTION: RV-6/6A, RV-7/7A, and RV-9/9A QUICKBUILD KIT PURCHASERS:

The interior firewall steel brackets (part numbers: WD-602L&R and WD-603L&R) often appear to be cracked where they transition aft along the longerons inside the airframe. This is NOT the case. The "ears" that are bolted and riveted to the longerons just aft of the firewall are powder coated prior to installation and the process of riveting and bolting causes the powder coat "bridge" to separate.

This always looks like a crack but it is again NOT the case. The "ears" are only welded for a length of about 3/4" near the firewall and then are separate pieces aft of that weld.

ATTENTION RV-8 QUICKBUILDERS:

The lower forward fuse skin is already installed on an RV-8 QuickBuild fuselage. In order to drill the U-805-1 gear attach plates to the lower longeron, it will be necessary either to drill through the skin, or to relieve a small area of the skin so as to gain access to the longeron. Either is OK, the area will be covered later by the gear leg intersection fairing.
